Designing an oasis for creators

Oasis is platform for content creators to discover and manage all of their brand deals. From negotiations, payouts to final creative assets delivery - Oasis offers everything they need in one place.

First steps

Working alongside the Oasis team we designed and developed the entire web product for them. We began our design with their customer - the creator.

Creators

A creator is essentially a small business owner and require very specific tools to manage and operate it. Most tools that existed in the market covered only one specific function, so they were forced to use a number of outdated, cumbersome products that weren't designed for their workflow.

We began our research by speaking with top creators to identify their pain points. We found 3 major ones that resonated with every single one:

• Payments: billing clients and collecting payment was always an issue. In same cases, due to lack of transparency, brands wouldn't pay after receiving creative they hired the creator for.
• Assets/Creative delivery: Simply handing off files via Dropbox or Google Drive didn't solve the issue of non-payment. Further, managing those files across multiple clients in several places overtime becomes confusing and errors occur.
• Trust and accountability: due to the nature of the business, it all operates on trust, yet there isn't much accountability. Brands have taken advantage of thousands of small creators because there was no way to trace it back to them.

We built the core features to address those top issues for creators. Payments were all handled though our custom build flow inside the product. All deliverables are watermarked until full payment is remitted. We also added "marketplace" features to build accountability such as reviews and ratings for both sides upon completion of a project.

Generating additional revenue for creators

Creators are experts in a specific field and as such they are often asked to give advice and help to their community. Managing those requests that come in through Instagram DMs is messy. Once again, after speaking to hundreds of creators we agreed to build a new feature that allowed anyone to book them for 1:1 sessions via their profile on Oasis.
